A few weeks ago, our Sunday school teacher told us about these two women who were on their way to church. What started out as a leisurely, Sunday morning drive quickly took a turn for the nasty.
Each was unaware of the other as they drove their cars. One of the women cut the other off in traffic. And it seemed almost expected that the other returned the favor by cutting off the first lady. This went on for a few miles, tit for tat.
This was escalating quickly to road rage when they both suddenly made eye contact, and realized who the other person was. It was no longer a faceless stranger they each were tangling with.
When they arrived at church, both ran to their bishop crying for forgiveness.
It is interesting how you can take the most upstanding, Christian person....and put them behind the wheel of a car and they turn into something very different. It just proves the no one is above reproach or the occasional slip into sin by letting our anger get the best of us.
We should always be aware of our actions whether in church, at work or in a car. Christianity is a full-time occupation, not just for a few hours on Sunday. The next time you find yourself in this situation, take a deep breath, say a prayer and let it go. Life is too short to spend it angry all the time. Have a little patience and compassion, God sure has a lot with us. May God bless you always.
